Dashboard displays real-time and prior print activity. The online portal and customized notification settings enable each registered user to know the status of their printers.
Start by registering the Form 2 to connect with Dashboard. Once the Form 2 is registered to Dashboard and Dashboard logging is enabled on the printer, the Form 2 will send data to Dashboard as long as the printer’s Wi-Fi or Ethernet connections are able to access the internet.
Accessing Data Online
To display each printer's live status and print jobs, connect the Form 2 to the internet and enable Dashboard Logging from the “Settings” menu of the Form 2 touchscreen. For prints uploaded with a USB connection, the Form 2 requires a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection for Dashboard to monitor activity.
For each registered printer, Dashboard displays print statistics for personal record keeping and managing the printer's activity. View the print progress bar to see the file name and print settings when a printer is actively printing.
Note: To see data for a specific print and accurate material usage, the printer must be able to access the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet when the print is started. Learn more about connecting to Dashboard.
Connecting each printer to Dashboard enables SMS or email notifications when a print is started, finished, or aborted.
To configure your notification preferences, click on “Edit Notifications” or visit the Settings page. Enter your email and phone number, then select which types of notifications you would like to receive via email or text message.
Notification Settings are automatically saved after each change. Use the bell icon in the top menu navigation or visit the Notifications page to access notifications through the web-based Dashboard.
Each registered user can individually change preferences for monthly printer reports through email and six types of notifications for printer events.
Monthly Printing Report: subscribe to a monthly report that provides comprehensive data about recent printing and material usage.
Print Started: sent as soon as a print is confirmed with the button on the Form 2. After the “Print Started” notification, the printer will preheat and dispense resin before printing.
Print Finished: sent when the last layer of a print is complete. After the “Print Finished” notification, the build platform can be removed to begin the finishing process.
Print Error: sent when the printer experiences an error. After the “Print Error” notification, the print will automatically abort. Check the Form 2 touchscreen for additional information and instructions. If the error persists, upload diagnostic logs and contact Formlabs Support with the specific error.
Print Aborted: sent when a print job is manually cancelled after starting. After the “Print Aborted” notification, the printer will be available for printing; if a print has partially started printing, remove cured resin from the build platform before starting the next print.
Print Interruption: sent when the printer pauses and needs attention to continue printing. Check the Form 2 touchscreen for additional information and instructions to resume the current print. Refer to the list of Form 2 Error Messages for details about each interruption type.
Resin Low: sent as soon as Dashboard estimates that the current resin cartridge has less than ¼ (250 mL resin) remaining. After the “Resin Low” notification, the print will continue printing. This notification is different from the “resin low” interruption type, which displays a message on the Form 2 touchscreen.
Dashboard sends notifications to each registered user, depending on their preset preferences. Notifications are sent for each event described above but limited to 7 error notifications per print. Dashboard notifications require the Form 2 to be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. To investigate missing notifications, check that the Form 2 is connected to the internet before contacting Formlabs support.
